This is a spectacular group of 6 original Erte Gouaches. The largest gouache is approximately 12"w x 7"h and all six are matted and framed under acrylic. Erte created many world famous fashion designs. He painted gouaches in color to depict new styles that captured the world's imagination. Most of his gouaches show a female wearing one of his fashion designs. It is quite rare to find one of his gouaches fully painted and these are highly prized since Erte did not paint larger artwork.

The Russian-born painter Romain de Tirtoff, who called himself Erte after the French pronunciation of his initials, was one of the foremost fashion and stage designers of the early twentieth century. From the sensational silver lamé costume, complete with pearl wings and ebony-plumed cap, that he wore to a ball in 1914, to his magical and elegant designs for the Broadway musical Stardust in 1988, Erte pursued his career with originality and creativity for over 75 years. Upon his death in 1990, he was widely considered to be the father of art deco.
